WE tv is not bringing back The Divide.

The one-hour drama, from creators Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) and Richard LaGravenese, will not be getting a second season from the AMC Networks-owned cable channel.

The Divide, which wrapped its eight-episode run in August, was an exploration of morality, ambition, ethics, politics and race in today’s justice system as viewed through the eyes of a case worker and district attorney whose views differ.

“We are extremely proud of The Divide and grateful to its brilliant creators, Richard LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn, and an amazing cast and crew, for bringing this story to life as WE tv’s first scripted series,” the network said in a statement issued Thursday.

The Divide was a big swing for WE tv. Originally developed for sibling network AMC, the project moved to WE tv once the network (home to Mad Men, The Walking Dead) passed. It was never a huge ratings performer for WE tv, drawing to just shy of 500,000 viewers to its debut in June before closing with just around 280,000 for its finale.

Marin Ireland, Paul Schneider, Damon Gupton, Nia Long, Britne Oldford, Chris Bauer, Joe Anderson and Adam Rothenberg co-starred.

WE tv is continuing its push into scripted, having ordered to series South of Hell from Eli Roth.
