Her father’s name was Heinrich Benjamin Marckwald and her mother’s name was Ottilie Pringsheim. Her father was born on 24th August 1815 and died in 1870. Her mother was born in Rosenberg, Oppeln, Schlesien, Germany in 1829 and she died in 1902.

Martha was born as the fourth child of her parents. Her elder siblings’ names are Benno Heinrich Marckwald, Elsbeth Marckwald, and Charlotte Marckwald. All of her elder siblings died before her. Marthas’ younger sibling’s name was Margarete Ottilie Marckwald who died in 1921.

Martha Liebermann Husband, Marriage & Daughter

Martha Liebermann married Max Liebermann after her elder sister got married to Max Liebermann’s elder brother Georg Liebermann. They both got engaged in May 1884 and then married on September 14, 1884. They began living in an apartment at IN Den Zelten 11, Tiergarten. Martha and her husband Max were a father to her only child their daughter Käthe Liebermann born in August 1885.

In 1892 Martha shifted with her daughter and husband to the apartment available on the second floor of the Liebermann family palace at Pariser Platz 7.

Living with her husband she faced difficulty due to breast cancer after she was diagnosed in 1904. She got treated for years and overcome Cancer after getting treatment at the Jewish Hospital. Her daughter married diplomat Mr. Kurt Riezler in May 1915 when she was 30 years old.

The drudgery of Martha Liebermann after her husband Max Liebermann’s extinction

When Martha Liebermann’s Husband Max Liebermann died in 1935 Martha began spending her days at an apartment situated at Graf-Spee-Straße 23 (today: Hiroshimastraße ).

Martha lost her two apartments after she faced harassment and ill-treatment from the Jews in National Socialist Germany. After her house, she lost almost everything as her fortune went low.

She then again faced difficulty to sell her villa at a low market value after a compelling of National Socialists. Martha Liebermann then began to get emigrated to Sweden but didn’t succeed further. She didn’t get permission to get emigrated to Sweden because of the high demand for money from National Socialists.

Then in March 1942, Prince Eugene of Sweden tried to help Martha to get permission to emigrate to the US and he got succeeded. But no one knows what happened on March 5, 1943, as Martha was found in a state of coma when she was all set to transport to the Theresienstadt concentration camp.

Death

Matha was found unconscious in a state of Coma on March 5, 1943. She was hospitalized at Jewish Hosptial in Berlin where she died on March 10, 1943. After her death, it was stated in newspapers that she committed suicide as she died due to an overdose of Veronal in order to avoid deportation.

She was then buried at Schönhauser Allee Jewish Cemetery the same cemetery where her husband is buried.
