Muir received awards from the Associated Press for Best Enterprise Reporting and Best Television Interview. Muir was named the “Best Local Newscast Anchor” by the Syracuse Press Club, and he was also named one of the “Best Local News Anchors” in Syracuse.

Muir worked as an anchor and reporter for WCVB television in Boston from 2000 to 2003, when he won the regional Edward R.
