Lionel Messi is an all-rounder while Cristiano Ronaldo is just a goal scorer, according to former Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan.

The Argentine and the Portuguese have dominated the world of football in the past decade and have won several awards between them.

They share a remarkable 11-Ballons d'Or between them with Messi slightly getting the better of Ronaldo after winning six of them.

Turkish midfielder Turan had a three-year spell at the Camp Nou following his 2015 move from Atletico Madrid and was up close and personal with Messi.

The Galatasaray midfielder won the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey twice before leaving the club to join Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

The 33-year-old has now brought a new fact about the Messi and Ronaldo debate claiming his former teammate is better than the Juventus striker.

"Messi is present in every moment of football. He can dictate the game in every aspect," Turan told beIN Sports Turkey.

"There's nothing bad to say about Ronaldo but he's a goalscorer, albeit a very special one. Messi does everything in this game. He does things you can't even imagine to do. His intelligence, his vision, his passing are all much different. And every person I have talked to about this agrees with me.

"Except the people who are close to Ronaldo, his team-mates, who say it's Ronaldo as they answer politically. Ronaldo is my friend and it's not my place to question his quality. But I think Messi is better."
